Parkston, South Dakota  

Established in 1886

The city of Parkston is located in the southeastern part of South Dakota.   Parkston provides retail, medical, professional, educational and recreational opportunities. Parkston has fertile farmland to help with the agricultural community as well the hunting season for pheasants, deer and other wildlife. Parkston also has a vibrant manufacturing sector.   Parkston is located 20 minutes off of Interstate 90 exit 332 south on Highway 37 or 20 miles south of Mitchell, known for the world's only Corn Palace.   Parkston is approximately 70 miles west of Sioux Falls and  Interstate I-29.

The Parkston community has a population of about 1,650 and serves a trade center of 8,500 people in the Hutchinson, Douglas, Davison, Bon Homme and Charles Mix counties.

The city of Parkston is governed by a six-member council and mayor.  Parkston City Hall is located on Main Street and also houses Parkston Law Enforcement, Parkston Volunteer Fire Department and Volunteer Ambulance Service.
